Multi-faceted, conscientious, and detail oriented individual with a fierce passion for learning.

One goal I keep for myself is to always be learning something new, and I always strive to be either improving my knowledge of a subject or teaching myself a new one. At the beginning of last year I decided to try a Udemy class on Python since I always wanted to learn programming. Right away I was pulled in and was practicing writing simple programs, and I decided to set up a GitHub page to track my progress and play around with versioning. The thing I love about programming is the feeling you get when you run a program and the computer instantly does exactly what you told it to. It was at this point that I finally made the decision to pursue IT as a career, and began looking into certifications.

Throughout school I had an advanced level of reading and writing, which led me to study professional writing in college. Ever since graduation I’ve carried exceptional written and oral communication skills with me through every job I’ve had. In my previous role at Whole Foods, I was able to sharpen my communication and customer service skills through daily interactions with customers. Since I was around a lot of unique lifestyle items, I had the opportunity to educate people on the products we sold and I carried that experience with me once I started working in IT. In my current role I have the opportunity to practice supporting users of varying backgrounds and levels of computer literacy, so I’m gaining experience explaining IT related concepts in a way everyone can understand. From these experiences I developed a two pronged philosophy of customer service: Be as knowledgeable as possible about products/services, and always set people’s expectations accordingly.

Thorough, efficient work ethic with emphasis on quality and accuracy. 

My philosophy of work has always been proactive rather than reactive. Before I start a task I look ahead and attempt to predict what resources or information I’ll need beforehand, that way I’m as prepared as possible for any challenges that may arise. I also live by the phrase “measure twice cut once,” taking a proactive stance to perform my work as thoroughly and as accurately as possible the first time. To me a job is not done if it’s not done well.
